Checking the power supply
Open up your computer and see if the power supply is connected correctly. If it is, you will have a machine that is powered up. Check that the power supply’s rectangular blue connector is plug in correctly and looks as it should. There should be a black plastic ball at the front (left side) of the motherboard that the power supply connects to. It should be made of three parts: two metal screws (one male and one female) and one cap. The female part fits over the female part of the motherboard. The cap screws onto the male part. While you are testing, use the two screws from your power supply to hold the ball in place while you screw it back in. Plug your power supply in to your motherboard. If you don’t see a ball in the front, the connection is not right.

Dust on the power supply
Many video cards use huge power supply units. Over time, these units will pick up dirt and dust. This can cause the PSU to become less efficient. The power supply might also be damaged or infected, and the electrical connectors on the PSUs will wear out. The best solution is to clean the power supply from time to time. Vacuum it out with a vacuum cleaner and dry it with a compressed air system. It is recommended that you remove the PSUs completely from the system. This step is especially important when removing a graphics card. In that case, remove the power cable from the graphics card first. Also, make sure that the PSU is plugged in to the PSU’s input. If your power supply is old and dirty, you might find that it is the source of the problem.
Testing the power supply
This is the easiest way to troubleshoot your PC’s power supply. Disconnect the power supply from your computer and take it to a computer store, hardware store, or electronics retailer that is certified by reputable brands to sell parts and service. There, a PC technician will clean the external connectors, check the internal connectors for cracks, and make sure that all the power connectors, the cable, and other components are in good working order. The technician will also attach a brown paper bag (or similar material) to your power supply, marking it for identification. As the technician uses a voltmeter to test your power supply, they may ask you to hold it in place, or to touch the back of the bag to the front of the power supply.
Taking out the power supply
The very first thing you need to do, without waiting for it to fail, is to open the power supply unit. Next to the power supply, on the other side of the case, you’ll see two white push-buttons. Pressing and holding the button labeled “+” for 5 seconds will automatically insert the replacement power supply unit, and you’ll be able to remove the first power supply unit (in the case of the RX 470, it has the label: “XT”-series). But the danger is the blue power supply unit (probably labeled “MZLZ-12V-01”), and it has a particularly ugly flaw. It has little exposed copper terminals, so if you take a magnet close to it, the terminal may short the motherboard or the PSU, and the entire unit will explode.
